Welcome all! - Matt - 02-29-2012

Hi Folks,
Welcome to KickStarted.org. Here's the place to find out how best to navigate your crowdfunding projects from concept to achievement. This is the central meeting place for all those wayward souls who have a dream and are just gutsy enough to try to make it happen. Sharing your experience and learning from others will help it become less gutsy, and more optimized with much better chances of success.

Feel free to ask any question at all, and to chime in when you've got something to offer. Crowdfunding is a nascent concept to most of us regular people and it can feel like the wild frontier out there. By sharing with the community we can help each other understand it better, and we'll also be helping to define the path crowdfunding takes in the future!

And above all, we will help ordinary people create the extraordinary!

Matt-
You are the best!!

I get so many questions from people about how to do Kickstarter projects-- even requests to speak at conferences about it. It almost becomes a second job to advise everyone. I end up repeating the same tips over and over again. It feels like such a waste. I love love love supporting other entrepreneurs so thank you so much for making it easier for me to contribute with this site.

I love that now the people I send here can get advice from people who have done different kinds of kickstarter campaigns. I have a few general tips, but mostly I deeply developed my own "Crowdfunding Business Plan" for my particular situation, rewards, and audience. It does not translate well for my friends who have totally different kinds of projects.

I also really like that this is independently run from Kickstarter. It gives a level of authenticity and independence to the community of entrepreneurs. We do need to have our own agenda separate from the business agendas of the web startups providing the technology we are using.

I also like that you made it open to people using all kinds of crowdfunding platforms, not just Kickstarter. Kickstarter disallows nonprofit fundraising, for example. I think there are something like 400 crowdfunding sites out there and its important to find the ones that are right for the particular project and audience.

Anyway, kudos, my friend, on both creating and funding the most awesome big kid toy i've experienced in a decade and on making such a valuable contribution to entrepreneurs and artists.
